I still open the game through Steam as a fully fledged Steam game, and it utilizes whatever I buy through the ESO website normally.įor reference, I had the base game bought on Steam, then later purchased Morrowind through the ESO website. It's all completely linked via your ESO account.
It doesn't cause any problems doing it this way, or odd separations of DLC or whatever. I purchased the base game of ESO not long after it first came to Steam, but I buy expansions and crowns solely through the ESO website instead of Steam.
The ESO website shares the Steam sales, so you'd be getting the same low sale price there as well.

(Though if you're adamant about buying it through Steam, then you likely will have to erase the game license first.) As long as the base copy was purchased on Steam, you're free to buy everything else through the ESO website and have it perfectly apply to your Steam copy as if you bought it through Steam. You can bypass erasing the current license by purchasing it through the ESO website, which doesn't prevent you from buying parts you already own like Steam does.

Upgrade isn't worth, as you don't get the strong savings you get from buy as full game. No, I don't know if that will have any effect in your existing game account progress.
